Elgin will play host to the first first Energising Communities Conference to be held in the Moray.

The event will bring people together to discuss how local communities in Moray can fully benefit from community energy projects and initiatives.

It is the result of a partnership between the Joint Community Councils (JCC) of Moray and Moray Leader.

The overall aim of the conference is to identify interested community leaders who would take part in future peer learning visits in Scotland to help Moray move towards a low carbon economy through increased energy efficiency and renewable energy production by means of domestic, business, community and collaborative action.

Chairman of the JCC, Alastair Kennedy said: “This conference will therefore be a great opportunity to find out more on how community energy can work for us locally, in Moray.”

There will be speakers from Community Energy Scotland, Local Energy Scotland, Huntly & District Development Trust, Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Development Trust, Scottish Enterprise – Scottish Investment Bank and Force 9 Energy.

The conference takes place in Elgin Town Hall on Friday from 9.30am-3.30pm. To book, e-mail energisingcommunities2019@gmail.com
