Inquiries continue after £6,000 worth of cigarettes stolen from Inverness shop

Investigations are continuing by police after £6,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen from an Inverness convenient store on Wednesday.

The unidentified male smashed his way into Drummond Stores on Culduthel Road around 4.30am stealing 15 bottles of spirits, costing in the region of £500 to £600 and the owner’s £150 float from the till.

Officers were alerted to the incident shortly before 5am and inquiries are continuing.

Inverness thieves steal £6,000 of cigarettes in shop break-in

Police are keen to speak to a man seen in the area at the time of the incident and is described as being about 6ft 2in tall and of skinny build.

He was wearing a red top, black hoodie, light blue jeans and black Adidas trainers.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident.

Inquiry officer Constable Catherine Lowe said: “We are appealing to anyone who was near the Drummond Road area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“The man seen in the area may have had use of a vehicle in order to move the stolen items.

“I would urge anybody who recognises his description or saw a vehicle in the area to get in touch with us.
