Social care staff across the north and Scotland who have gone above and beyond during Covid-19 are being celebrated in a new “Inspiring Stories” project.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has gathered stories of those working on the front line so they can share their skills and qualities.
Among those featured are the members of the team at Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership.
They created a video on how relationships, communication and leadership had helped them build on their strengths during the coronavirus.
Staff member Laura Thom shared the quote ‘tough times don’t last, tough teams do” on Twitter to show her appreciation for the work of the organisation.
A memory book was also created to capture good news stories from throughout the pandemic.
In the video, area manager Kimberley Menzies explains: “The road to recovery is going to take a lot of strength from the team. I’m extremely proud of everything my team has done and what everyone across Aberdeenshire continues to do.”
Hame fae Hame nursery, in Scalloway, has also found coping with coronavirus restrictions has led to a new sense of camaraderie.
The centre has been providing essential childcare for frontline staff as well as vital support in the wider community throughout lockdown.
Manager and owner Kaye Sandison said: “As with everyone who works in a caring role, we are dealing with the risks of coming to work every day during lockdown.
“We have always been a tight team, but this has led to a new camaraderie.
“In particular we are extremely keen to keep things as normal as possible for the children, helping to allay anxieties as they are children of frontline staff, keeping them positive and ensuring scrupulous hygiene and hand washing.”
The nursery also joined forces with an organisation called Food Share, to deliver food parcels to vulnerable families within the community.

They also are also working with Food for the Way which runs a two-way food exchange programme to ensure that everyone has access to fresh fruit and vegetables and store cupboard essentials.
Mrs Sandison added: “Although we are apart at the moment, during these strange times, we are certainly not alone.”
