Consultation on a masterplan for the Cairngorm mountain visitor attraction has been extended by a fortnight.

Cairngorm Estate owner Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), has agreed to a request to extend the deadline, which was originally to be Monday.

Dave Macleod, HIE’s head of property and infrastructure, said: “We are extremely grateful to all those who have completed the survey so far.

“However, we also appreciate there has been a lot going on these past few weeks, with schools reopening and many people taking leave.

“As a result, not everyone who wishes to do so has had the time to digest the document and complete the survey.”

He added: “Our aim is to develop a long-term way forward for Cairngorm that can achieve the strongest possible buy-in from the statutory authorities, operating company, local residents, businesses, sportspeople and visitors.”

Mark Tate, chief executive of Cairngorm Business Partnership, said: “Cairngorm Mountain is an important part of the economy.

“To say it has been a difficult time for businesses over the past six months would be a massive understatement so we were, of course, disappointed at the timing of this important consultation.

“It coincided with when businesses had a very narrow window to salvage what they could from the summer season. The extra two weeks is, therefore, very welcome and we encourage businesses and individuals to engage in this consultation.”
