A search is under way for a missing Irish woman last seen in Stornoway three weeks ago.

Susan Forde left the Republic of Ireland to go travelling in March, and previously spent time in Edinburgh.

The 56-year-old then travelled north, and was last seen on October 16 at 5.12pm as she left the Caladh Inn Hotel and headed towards Stornoway town centre.

Police are growing increasingly concerned and a spokeswoman from Stornoway coastguard confirmed it had teams out searching.

When last seen, Ms Forde was wearing an orange top, a dark jacket with white lining, blue trousers or jeans, walking boots, a cream/grey tammy hat, spectacles and carrying a backpack.

A police spokesman said: “Police are becoming increasingly concerned as there have been no sightings or contact from her since then. Her family is understandably worried and want her home safe.

“If anyone has seen Susan or knows her whereabouts, please get in touch with Police Scotland, quoting incident number 1262 or November 2, 2022.”
