Highland holiday-makers will be able to take advantage of direct summer flights to Majorca next year, it has been announced.
Thomson and First Choice yesterday revealed its plan to run the service from Inverness Airport to the largest Balearic island for six weeks, starting on June 16 next year.
The move is part of the holiday company’s drive to enable customers to fly on holiday from their local airport.
Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, said: “We are committed to responding to all of our customers’ needs which is why we have introduced this peak season route to one of our most popular destinations Majorca.
“The addition of the route will give customers in the Highlands more flexibility when deciding on their 2017 summer holiday.
“Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”
Graeme Bell, general manager at Inverness Airport, said: “Thomson and First Choice are two of the biggest and best names in the holiday industry and we are delighted to welcome them to Inverness Airport in summer 2017.
“Majorca is a fantastic addition to our holiday route network and the launch of these new flights means that holidaymakers looking to enjoy a summer break can now start their journey at Inverness Airport.
“We look forward to welcoming Thomson and First Choice next summer and would encourage holidaymakers to book early as these flights are likely to prove very popular.
