A safety audit has been carried out at a new mini roundabout that is reported to be confusing motorists on the A82 Fort William to Inverness road.
The roundabout was installed to replace traffic lights at Inverlochy Junction in Fort William in a move to speed up traffic flow on the busy trunk road through the Lochaber town.
But Councillor Allan Henderson, who is chairman of Highland Council’s community services committee, said he had received complaints about the new road layout, claiming it was confusing and likely to cause accidents.
A Bear Scotland spokeswoman said: “A safety audit was undertaken of the new mini roundabout on Tuesday by Bear Scotland road safety engineers and Police Scotland officers.
“This is normal procedure following any changes to a road layout being made.
“Some additional measures are being considered to improve the operation of the roundabout and more information will be available in due course.”
