A Sutherland care home has received glowing reports for both its residential and day care services from Scotland’s care regulator.
The Care Inspectorate praised the residential care home and support services at Sinclair Court in Melvich during an unannounced inspection on February 20 this year.
Residential home Sinclair House achieved ‘very good’ grades for quality of care and support and quality of staffing, as well as ‘good’ grades for quality of environment and quality of management and leadership.
This is an improvement from March 26 last year which reported ‘good’ grades for care and support, environment and staffing, and ‘adequate’ for management and leadership.
Meanwhile the support (day) services report showed ‘good’ scores for all of the categories.
This was a marked improvement from a report in February 2015, which showed ‘adequate’ grades for staffing and environment and ‘weak’ grades for care and support and management and leadership.
In the latest report, the Care Inspectorate described the care home as being ‘committed to delivering care and support to a high standard’, and was impressed by the levels of ‘compassion and enthusiasm within the workforce’.
The report also highlighted the well established links with the primary health care team, which helped ensure that the care of people who live in the home was both planned and responsive.
The improvements made at Sinclair Court, following similar reports by the Care Inspectorate on NHS Highland run homes and services in Sutherland – at the Brora Hub and Seaforth House in Golspie.
