Oban Community Skate Park was among the local charities, who took part in the town’s biggest street fair at the weekend.
The Oban and Lorn Lions Club organises the event in Station Square and Queen’s Park Place.
With up to 50 stalls, Oban Charities Day offers small community groups the chance to raise funds at an event with a massive crowd that they wouldn’t normally be able to draw individually.
On Saturday, various local groups organised stalls, displays, games, sales and other fundraising endeavours.
The group aiming to provide a skate park for the town’s young people was delighted to raise nearly £200 by face-painting and selling bags of sweets and balloons.
Councillor Julie McKenzie, chairwoman of Oban Community Skate Park Project – The Resolution, said: “The stall was great, we had lots of support from people in the community, many of whom offered us various forms of help.
“We raised funds by face-painting, selling bags of sweeties and balloons and some people made donations.
“We are hoping that some kind person might donate a bit of land somewhere in Oban.
“In the meantime, we have a temporary site at the back of Shore Street car park where we are looking for planning permission.”
The Lions Club took over the running of charities day in 1990 and has subsequently helped dozens of charities and community organisations to raise an estimated half a million pounds.
Other groups with stalls on Saturday included Oban Mountain Rescue, Argyll Animal Aid, Argyll Cardiac Disease, Lorn Home Start, Oban and Lorn Dementia Support, British Legion Oban Branch, Hope Kitchen, St Columba’s School and the Fisherman’s Mission.
