A busy Highland road was closed yesterday afternoon after three cars were involved in a collision.
The crash happened on the A96 Inverness to Nairn road near the turn off for Easter Delnies, about two miles west of Nairn.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3.30pm, with the road remaining closed in both directions until it re-opened to traffic at about 5pm.
Three people suffered minor injuries and a fourth person was trapped in their car following the crash, but was conscious and communicating with paramedics and police.
The air ambulance attended the scene but it was understood last night that none of the injuries suffered by the motorists were life-threatening.
The crash involved a burgundy Volkswagen Golf, a silver Mercedes sports car and a blue Ford Mondeo.
Diversions were put in place via Cawdor, Croy and Westhill while the road was closed and the vehicles were recovered.
Highland roads were particularly busy yesterday as thousands of people made their way to the Belladrum Tartan Heart festival near Beauly.
Meanwhile, the emergency services were called out to two other accidents on Highland roads yesterday morning.
Three cars and a lorry collided outside the Lochaber Yacht Club in Achintore Road, Fort William, just after 7am.
A female was removed from one of the vehicles by the fire service and was taken to hospital. Her condition is unknown.
A fire service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 7.06am and two appliances from Fort William attended at the scene.
“A female was removed from a vehicle by firefighters and she was taken to hospital by ambulance.”
Earlier, two vehicles were involved in a collision near the turn off to Caol on the A830 – the Road to the Isles.
The police spokesman added: “We received the call at 6.47 am and attended the incident near the railway crossing at Caol.
“Two vehicles were involved and a minor injury was sustained. The incident was signed-off at 8.01 am.”
