Works to address traffic congestion at the Nevis Roundabout in Fort William are set to get underway next week for up to eight nights.

From Saturday 17 June, overnight works worth £40,000 will take place to widen the northbound approach of the A82 into two lanes, install a pedestrian crossing and upgrade current signage in the area.

Eddie Ross of Bear Scotland said: “This project has been designed to help relieve traffic congestion on the A82 in Fort William.

“We’ve been working closely with Transport Scotland and the local community and business to find the best way to help address the problem of traffic congestion at peak times, and the proposed work at Nevis Roundabout should help to improve the flow of traffic through Fort William.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible as we appreciate that the works will have an impact on nearby residents and will carry out nosier operations before 11pm.

“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking Traffic Scotland and leave extra time to reach their destination.”

Works are expected to last for a duration of eight nights, from 7pm to 6am, with temporary traffic lights being put in place to ensure the A82 remains open and accessible to motorists. During the day these traffic management procedures will be removed.

No work is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday nights.
