The A9 is closed in both directions at Evanton following a serious three vehicle crash.
An air ambulance, three ambulances and a doctor have been sent to the scene.
The collision in Easter Ross took place just after midday.
A police spokesman said: “The call came in at 12.03pm that there has been a three-vehicle road traffic crash at Evanton on the A9.
“The road is closed in both directions Diversions are in place. The ambulance service is in attendance.”
A spokesman for the ambulance service added: “We received a call at 12.04pm to attend a road traffic collision on the A9 in Evanton.
“We dispatched three ambulances, an air ambulance and a basics doctor to the scene.”
The accident has caused significant tailbacks through Dingwall.
