The son of a man who died from Covid-19 in a Skye care home is still seeking clarity on a major investigation into the facility.
John Gordon, a Skye councillor whose father John Angus was a resident in the Home Farm Care Home in Portree, said he and other bereaved families have not been interviewed as part of the investigation.
Mr Gordon said: “There is a large scale investigation, but I don’t know if families, or staff, are going to be interviewed and that is a concern.
“The staff are the ones that have the evidence as to what exactly went on.
“And the key to this is, did people at Home Farm, including my dad, die because of a pandemic or were there other factors at work in this.”
The Care Inspectorate sought to remove HC-One as the care provider at the home after an inspection identified “serious and significant concerns” about the quality of care.
NHS Highland effectively took over running the facility where 10 residents have died and other residents and staff have contracted the virus.
This week, home operators HC-One issued a letter to the families of some residents apologising for falling short of the level of care and service expected, although it was not sent to bereaved families.
A court hearing into the Care Inspectorate’s action was been deferred until 21 August.
A NHS Highland spokesman said: “As the lead agency for the large scale investigation (LSI) into Home Farm care home in Portree, NHS Highland has contacted relatives and next of kin to ensure they are fully informed of concerns and progress to-date and to ensure their views inform the investigation process.”
