Motorists on the A82 Inverness to Fort William road are being warned to expect delays for three weeks from Monday due to road works at two locations in Lochaber.
Transport Scotland is investing £100,000 to allow a specialist contractor to carry out ground investigations on the carriageway at Glen Gloy to the north of the £1million scheme delivered last summer and also at a retaining wall at Altrua.
Work at Glen Gloy will start on Monday and take two weeks to complete and the wall at Altrua will last for one week from Monday March 21.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, temporary traffic lights will be installed until the investigations are completed.
Eddie Ross, who is trunk road maintenance agency Bear Scotland’s north west representative, said: “The two sets of ground investigation works will help us design future maintenance on these sections of the A82.
“We have programmed these works by our specialist contractor to minimise disruption by avoiding the busy peak tourism months.
“However, we would encourage motorists to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.”
