IN PICTURES: Kessock Ferry Swim takes place for first time in 50 years

More than 300 hardy souls took the plunge as the Kessock Ferry Swim returned to Inverness for the first time in 50 years.

The challenge, established in 1946, involves participants swimming from South to North Kessock and back.

It is a length of about three-quarters of a mile and follows the old ferry route that used to connect both sides of the river.

Rory More and Gregor Thurlow-White were the first men home, while Jade Perry was the first female back on dry land.

Organised by South Kessock-based outdoor education charity Aban Outdoor Ltd, the swim raised cash for Friends of Merkinch Local Nature Reserve.
