A “magical” Moray light and music show has ended on a high note, with its organisers praising a boost in ticket sales.

Colours of Cluny ran from November 8-19, with thousands of visitors dazzled by lighting effects and an atmospheric soundtrack as they walked around Forres’ Cluny Hill.

Revellers got to make their way through brightly-coloured avenues of trees and past creative light installations as they made their journey to the hill’s summit for an extravaganza of fire jugglers and stilt walkers.

The organisers, the Forres Features Community Interest Company, increased ticket sales by 14% compared to the inaugural event last year, with 14,200 people experiencing the spectacular.

A spokesman from the company said: “Colours of Cluny is a year in the planning and relies entirely on our army of over 80 volunteers who give up their time free of charge to make it a success.

“Not only was it wonderful to host an event for the north of Scotland and beyond to enjoy, the economic benefit to the local area has been fantastic, with hotels, restaurants and businesses all benefiting.”

Moray MSP Richard Lochhead said: “The hard working organisers and team of volunteers deserve huge praise for the growing success of Colours of Cluny and there couldn’t be a better example of a successful community driven project.

“The vision and imagination that has led to the spectacular use of the natural environment around Forres has put the town on the map and is just the latest example of innovation from such an enterprising community.”

Stuart Turner, head of EventScotland, added: “We are delighted to have supported Colours of Cluny through our National Events Programme.

“Scotland is the perfect stage for events and this spectacular show has established itself as a standout event for Moray, drawing thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond to experience the beautiful surroundings of Grant Park and Cluny Hill in a new light.”
