Elgin Library is the venue for a display of Christmas cards designed by local children

Youngsters from Moray primary schools created a variety of designs for a competition run by MP Douglas Ross, who chose his favourite to be his official seasons greetings card.

Taking pride of place in the display is the winning design from Ally Webster, a Primary 2 pupil from Hopeman Primary School.

Also prominently featured are the designs by the five runners-up: Morgan Beattie of New Elgin Primary; Kelsei-Jane McWhirter of Anderson’s Primary, Forres; Maci McBain of St Thomas RC Primary, Keith; Graham Black of Cullen Primary School and Tristan Taylor of Glenlivet Primary School.

Mr Ross said: “The children worked very hard on their designs and it is great that visitors to the library will have the opportunity to see the result of their efforts.

“We have a lot of talented young people in Moray and I think everyone will be impressed when they see the selection of entries on display and what they have achieved.”

Sheila Campbell, Principal Librarian, added: “We’re delighted to be able to share the imagination and creativity of some of Moray’s primary school children in Elgin Library.

“It must have been tricky for Douglas to choose just one winner from such a diverse selection of artwork.”
