Peterhead FC: McInally laments another one that got away

Jim McInally's side were beaten 3-0 by the Pars at East End Park.

It was a day of frustration for Peterhead manager Jim McInally as he watched his side grind out a 0-0 draw in the nation’s capital on Saturday despite controlling the game throughout.

McInally was unhappy Peterhead were denied a penalty but believes his side was guilty of missing too many chances.

He said: “There was one team trying to win against one team that was trying to draw.

“To be fair the last few Saturdays have been like that. The positive today is that we didn’t concede a silly goal.

“It’s frustrating as we had so much of the ball especially the second half.

“The first half was pretty even I thought and then the second half we totally dominated.

“Greg Fleming had one good save from a shot from Craig Thomson but that was it.

“It was a stonewall penalty on Rory McAllister but I’ve given up on talking to referees.

“I’ve not went to speak to him as he struggled enough with his game. I’m just disappointed as we needed to take one of those chances.”

The Blue Toon came out of the break firing and but for an inspired performance by Calum Antell in the City goal they would have hit the front.

The City goalkeeper pulled off saves to deny Jamie Stevenson, McAllister and Jack Leitch to keep the scores level all within five minutes of the restart.

By this point it was all Peterhead pressure as they controlled the ball looking for a breakthrough.

This was not to come, though, despite a pair of strong penalty shouts by the Highland men both on McAllister but the officials were nonplussed by both incidents as the game ended in stalemate.
