Ross County have signed English forward Inih Effiong from National League side Woking for an undisclosed fee.

Effiong, 26, has joined the Staggies on an 18-month contract after impressing County manager Owen Coyle with his performances for the Cardinals this season, netting 10 goals in 32 appearances since joining from Barrow in the summer.

The 6ft 3in attacker notably put in a man-of-the-match performance to help Woking defeat League One side Bury in a shock 3-0 victory in the FA Cup in November.

Staggies manager Coyle said: “I’m delighted to bring Inih to the club. He is a tall, powerful frontman and differs from the other strikers we have at the club so I think he will fit in well. Inih is relishing the step up from the Vanarama National League to the Scottish Premiership and can’t wait to get started.”

Effiong becomes County’s second signing of the January transfer window, following the loan capture of Aberdeen midfielder Greg Tansey.
