Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell says Staggies have received no approach for Ross Stewart after the forward was linked with a move to Hibernian.

Stewart, who ended last season on 11 goals, had attracted January interest from Hibs, Aberdeen as well as clubs in the English Championship, with the Edinburgh side believed to have stepped up their interest in the 23-year-old.

Stewart is entering the final year of his Victoria Park contract, however Kettlewell says the attacker remains focused on the Staggies after returning to training yesterday.

Kettlewell said: “There has been absolutely no contact with the football club regarding Ross Stewart.

“There was some speculation in January, but there is genuinely nothing to say on that one.

“He has reported back to training and he’s 100% with us and raring to go.”

The Staggies yesterday returned to training in small groups for the first time since Scottish football was suspended due to coronavirus in March.

After tests were conducted at the ground on Tuesday, Kettlewell says the Staggies players have been eager to get going again ahead of the likely return of the league season in August.

Kettlewell added: “Behind the scenes we have been working on how we get on the pitch.

“I feel we are as prepared, if not more so, than the majority of the teams in the Premiership.

“Everybody is just itching to go and sometimes that is the medicine for situation. For football people in general, getting back on the pitch will accelerate all our thinking so we can get Scottish football moving again.

“We are still in keeping with the fact we know what’s going on in the world, and we have to find a place within that.

“We just want to knuckle down and that entails being on the pitch.

“We will assess the guys to see where they are at. We will move through that process, hopefully leading into the beginning of August when hopefully we can get back to competitive football in this country in some shape or form.”
