The Port of Cromarty Firth (PCF) has taken delivery of millions of tonnes of infrastructure for five major construction projects in the north and north-east.
The Invergordon-based trust port said its involvement in the work was worth £41 million.
Piles are being housed on the Cromarty Firth for use at Lochaline Harbour, on the west coast, while accommodation modules for the development of the new Courtyard by Marriott Hotel at Inverness Airport are also being stored there.
Tonnes of material for three other projects have arrived at Invergordon, including piles for PCF’s £31m quayside expansion there and for the Moray East offshore wind farm.
Giant concrete caissons for use in the £350m Aberdeen harbour expansion project are also awaiting transportation to the north-east in the waters of the firth.
PCF chief executive Bob Buskie said: “These are exciting times for the port and the Highlands.
“The storage of such massive pieces of infrastructure shows the faith that neighbouring developments have in the port to house and deliver these huge structures safely.
“Our own plans to expand the port quayside and laydown area and create an energy and cruise hub are on schedule and on budget. The return on this investment to the local area will be significant for decades to come.”
