A search and rescue helicopter has this morning been sent to assist with the medical evacuation of a crewman on board a North Sea oil platform.
A coastguard spokesman confirmed the crewman was suffering from “medical issues” and required their assistance shortly after 8.10am.
He added: “Rescue Bond 1 has been sent to assist with a medical evacuation from a North Sea oil rig.
“The rig is located approximately 67 miles north, north east of Aberdeen.
“The helicopter has been sent and landed on scene shortly before 9.20am.”
It is understood the crewman will be airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
