Roads across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire were badly hit by flooding – with two major roads shut.
Commuters coming into the city from north and south were delayed with the A92 Ellon Road shut at the Parkway roundabout, along with one side of Great Southern Road.
The closure of Ellon Road follows months of ongoing roadworks with the road cut down to one lane at Parkway roundabout.
The Bridge of Muchalls was also reportedly badly affected, as was the A937 Laurencekirk to Marykirk road.
Roads in the city including Berryden Road, Hutcheon Street and Guild Street were also proving problematic – with traffic slowing to navigate the “unexpected rivers”.
Several bus routes were diverted or delayed by up to 40 minutes.
Despite the wet start to the day, the roads are beginning to clear.
Forecasters predicted it would brighten up for the rest of the day, with even some sunny spells later this afternoon.
