Police urge north-east motorists to stay off the roads following snowfall

More snow has hit Aberdeenshire, with further forecast for the north-east tomorrow
North-east motorists are being urged to exercise caution as further winter weather hits the region.
Heavy showers of snow have affected areas of Aberdeenshire including Huntly, Banchory and Westhill.
Police have issued a warning for the A96 Aberdeen to Huntly road at Glens of Foudland due to heavy snow, warning people not to “travel unless necessary”.
A Met Office yellow warning for ice is in place for the whole of the north-east, while a second warning for snow comes into place just after midnight.
The second warning will endure until Tuesday as temperatures plummet in the region.
Ice is likely to form on roads in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire tonight and tomorrow morning, with snow fall of up to 2in expected inland.
The Met Office also warned of “large accumulations” of snow tomorrow coupled with winds of between 50-60mph due to a cold air mass moving south across the country.
They also added there was potential for “temporary blizzard conditions” tomorrow due to the weather.
