Scottish music legend Donnie Munro and his band are to headline the Best of the West Festival at Inveraray Castle in Argyll.

The former Runrig singer will perform songs from his earliest Runrig days through to his own most recent compositions on the Saturday night of the festival.

Best of the West takes place from September 7-9, and celebrates the very bestin Scottish music, art, food and drink.

Mr Munro said: “I am absolutely delighted to be playing this exciting event for the first time and to be performing in such an amazing and historical setting. This is such a great venue for people to come and share music and my experiences throughout the years have shown me what a wonderful atmosphere is created in such special locations.

“I am very lucky to be bringing with me, some of Scotland’s finest contemporary musicians, most of whom have formed the backbone of my live and studio band over recent years but who have also enjoyed great careers, as musicians in their own right.

“They have played with some of the major names in folk, rock and pop music including, Kate Bush, John Martyn, Fish, Strangeways, John Reid’s Night-crawlers and many others and I an extremely lucky to have such amazing players come together to form my band.

“I have played lots of shows over recent years some with the full band and some acoustic, and it is now great to be able to combine both these line ups at different times and for different shows.

“I can promise a range of material which will reflect my own musical journey over the years from the earliest Runrig days to the present time and my more recent recorded works.”

Eleanor, Duchess of Argyll, and founder of BOWFest said: “I am huge fan and delighted that Donnie has agreed to play BOWFest2018.

“He played to an audience of 50,000 at Balloch Castle on the shores of Loch Lomond with Runrig in 1991 and now he is going to play to a full house at Inveraray Castle on the shores of Loch Fyne.

“Donnie, castles and lochs just go together. It will be a magical night.”
