A popular north music festival has been forced to find a new home for its 13th edition.
Loopallu will move on to Ullapool Pier next year – which the organisers say will make it one of the more unusual festival locations in the UK.
The festival has previously been held at Broomfield Holiday Park in the village but the site was not available for next year.
The festival’s organisers said the changes may mean next year could be a “farewell party”, or if the change of venue is a success then “maybe it’s the start of a new chapter”.
The organisers said that despite their “best efforts” they had to change venue.
In a statement they said: “Thanks to the kindness and support of the Ullapool Harbour Trustees, the main event will be moving on to Ullapool Pier, in turn making it one of the most unusual venues in the UK.
“The dates for 2017 are Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 and tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10am.
“Due to the move, the event will be non-camping and the number of tickets available will be restricted, so please don’t leave it too long to decide.
“Our 13th year might be our farewell party, or if you like the change maybe it’s the start of a new chapter. Only you can decide.
“Whatever the future holds all the team would like to say a big thank you to all who have come over the years. Your support and enthusiasm made the event what it was and what it will hopefully remain.”
Despite being one of the most remote music events in the UK, Loopallu has regularly punched above its weight by attracting big name headliners such as Paolo Nutini and Franz Ferdinand to Ullapool.
The festival has helped introduced acts such as Mumford & Sons and Jake Bugg to a wider audience.
