Met Eireann, the Irish meteorological service, has named it Storm Georgina and the warning for the season’s seventh storm comes into effect at 1am and lasts until 2pm.
The Met Office’s chief forecaster said gusts would be between 50 and 60mph over the Hebrides and northern and western parts of the Highlands will reach 70 t0 80mph.
They said: “These high winds will probably affect some bus and train services leaving some journeys taking longer.
“Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely and some short-term loss of power and other services is possible.”
