Highland Wildlife Park and Fort George forced to close to visitors as Storm Ciara blows in

Two major attractions in the Highlands have been forced to close their doors early this afternoon as the full effects of Storm Ciara are encountered.

Highland Wildlife Park has issued a notice to would be visitors that due to high winds, staff have taken the decision to close in the interests of safety.

In an online post, Highland Wildlife Park said: “Due to high winds we have had to close the park early today (Sunday, 9 Feb).

“We are continuing to monitor the weather and will post an update about tomorrow as soon as possible.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

And bosses at Fort George have also decided to close early due to the windy weather.

A statement from The Highlanders Museum reads: “Our colleagues at Historic Environment Scotland who run the Fort have taken the decision to close as the weather is getting windier.

“As a result the museum will also be following these closing hours today.

“The Fort will reopen on Monday morning at 10am.”
