Peat & Diesel help health board with hand washing message

Hebridean phenomenon Peat & Diesel have scrubbed up well for their latest video which is getting over an important message during the pandemic.

The hugely popular folk rock group have collaborated with NHS Western Isles on the track ‘That’s the Way We Wash Them’, to highlight the importance of hand washing.

While the tune, inspired by their smash hit ‘That’s the Way We Do it in the Western Isles’, is not intended to be educational, or the video instructional, the health board hopes they will help remind people about the importance of washing their hands to counter the virus.

NHS Western Isles chief executive Gordon Jamieson said: “We are delighted to team up with Peat & Diesel once again.  By having their support we can reach our younger age groups with some important messages.

“The intention of the video is clearly to raise awareness of the importance of hand washing and is not intended to be an accurate demonstration.”

He added: “We want to sincerely thank Peat & Diesel, and Wee Studio Records for again supporting us get important messages across. Not only does this band create some excellent music, Peat & Diesel have been strong and invaluable supporters of the local NHS and have helped raise awareness of important messages on several occasions.

“We are extremely grateful for their ongoing support.”

Peat & Diesel accordionist Innes Scott, said: “Peat and Diesel were only too delighted to again lend their support to NHS Western Isles and we hope our music continues to spread important health messages.  We hope you enjoy the video.”
