REGIONAL BREAKDOWN: Nine new Covid-19 cases across Scotland including two in north and north-east

A further two people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the north and north-east in the past 24 hours.

Today’s update from the Scottish Government shows there have been nine new cases of Covid-19 recorded across the country since Saturday, taking the total to 18,296.

A total of 278,883 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS Scotland labs and UKG to date. Of these, 260,587 were confirmed negative.

Of the people who have tested positive, 424 were in hospital last night and four of whom were in intensive care. There are also seven more people in intensive care with suspected Covid-19.

Since March 5, 4,095 inpatients have been discharged from hospital.

Due to a technical issue, the number of deaths reported on July 4 are not yet available. The Scottish Government said it will update this as soon as it can.

Scotland’s death toll is 2,488.

A regional breakdown of the figures show there has been one new case recorded in the Grampian area, taking the region’s total to 1,426.

There has also been one person diagnosed with the virus in the Highlands where the total number of positive cases is now 376.

There have been no new cases recorded in the islands.

There are currently 38 people in the north-east and six in the Highlands receiving hospital treatment after testing positive for coronavirus.
