Former Celtic boss linked with vacant Dundee job

Speculation is rife over who could be chosen to replace sacked Paul Hartley as Dundee manager.

The Dens men are currently scrapping for survival in the lower half of the league and are on a horror run on seven defeats that even saw them concede seven goals at home to Aberdeen.

Ultimately, it was too much to take for the Dundee board to take and it was announced yesterday afternoon that Hartley would be leaving the club.

Since then, bookies have been laying out their odds on the next man to take the Dundee hot seat, with Morton boss Jim Duffy and Alan Stubbs consistently leading the pack.

Former Dundee heroes like Fabrizio Ravenelli, Claudio Caniggia, Temur Ketsbaia and even current Albion Rovers boss Darren Young have also been linked to the post.

However a slightly more unusual pick is ex-Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila, placed at 25/1 by bookmakers Ladbrokes and looking an increasingly likely option.

The Norwegian enjoyed mixed reviews during his time at Celtic Park despite significant domestic success.

He could well feel that he has unfinished business in Scotland and following fellow former Hoops manager Neil Lennon’s success at Hibernian, may fancy a shot with another Scots side.

However, Deila has only recently taken up a role with Norwegian side Valerenga – despite agreeing the deal in July of last year.

Time will tell but with three league wins and two domestic cup victories to his name, Deila could boast an impressive CV if he does put himself forward for the job.
