Celtic have reportedly identified Roy Keane as their number one target to replace Ronny Deila – and the Hoops are hoping a £15million transfer kitty will convince him to take on the job.

Reports in the Sunday Post suggest that Republic of Ireland assistant, Keane, has been contacted about the Parkhead job.

Keane turned down the chance to take the position two years ago when Neil Lennon left Celtic but Hoops owner, Dermot Desmond, and his board are are hoping that the £15million budget could convince him to return to Glasgow.

The former Manchester United captain and boyhood Celtic supporter spent six months with the Glasgow giants in 2006.

Celtic would hope to fund the transfer budget with qualification for the Champions League but, failing that Desmond and the board believe the funds will still be available from elsewhere after the club announced a new £2.65 million per year sponsorship deal with betting firm, Dafabet, for the next four years as well as the renewed sponsorship with Magners.

The Hoops are also expected to rake in £10 million a year in additional revenue due to the promotion of city rivals Rangers.

Fellow out of work managers David Moyes and Brendan Rodgers have also been linked with the post but would also require significant funding if they were to take on the role.
