Nat Coe wants Aberdeen Grammar to pick up where they left off when they take on Biggar this weekend.

The co-lead coach is determined for Grammar to re-establish the momentum they had before the defeat against GHK a fortnight ago.

Like the majority of sports teams across the north last weekend, Grammar were washed out with the weather front which thrashed Scotland.

They had recorded back-to-back victories against Stewart’s Melville and Dundee, but since then have had a weekend off due to a Scotland game, the loss at GHK and the postponement against Highland.

“I felt we had a bit of momentum after those two wins and I’ve been trying to remind the boys that it’s still there,” said Coe. “We’ve still got that behind us and should be confident.

“It’s difficult to assess things properly so far. We’ve lost more games than we’ve won and we’ve had a lot of difficult games away from home.

“We do need to win more games but I won’t be making any judgement on the league until February time, because so much can change.

“Winning is a habit and not a habit we were in. We’re now looking to pick up a few more wins and hopefully the guys are able to back that up this weekend.”

Coe and the Grammar coaching staff have had to think on their feet to keep the players active over the last fortnight, given the torrential conditions which had put Rubislaw out of use.

“We’ve not trained at Rubislaw this week or last week to give it time to recover,” he said. “So fingers crossed the weather clears up before Saturday.

“It’s been a bit stop-start with training facilities but we’re managing to train where we can. We’ve had a few different things organised to make sure we can continue to work hard and the guys are itching to get toing.”

Biggar sit in mid-table in National One, with five wins and five defeats from their opening 10 games.

“They’re a team that’s been on the rise over the last few years whereas we’re settling the ship a little bit,” said Coe. “But we’d back ourselves at home against anyone.

“We had a pretty tough run of things at the start of the season so we’re looking forward to bedding in at Rubislaw for a bit. Hopefully we can get some results along the way.”
