Police are today probing the death of a man in Elgin after a body was discovered lying on the pavement.
Officers cordoned-off Southfield Drive in Elgin outside Glassgreen Medical Centre around 9pm last night.
Two ambulances were also called to the scene in the south of the town.
Last night, police refused to give any details about the incident – but did confirm a man had died.
A spokesman for the ambulance service: “We were called to Elgin just before 9pm.
“We sent two units.”
The ambulances left the scene shortly before 10pm.
Two police vans and four police cars were also at the scene, which was cordoned-off with blue and white tape between the A941 Elgin-Rothes road and the junction between Southfield Drive and Robertson Drive.
The medical centre car park was also cordoned-off.
One resident in Southfield Drive said he had been alarmed by the sight of the emergency vehicles in the road and went outside to see what had happened.
The pensioner said last night: “This is generally a very quiet area, I couldn’t believe it when I saw all the flashing lights outside.
“It’s something you never hope to see outside your front gate.”
