The best way to see Scotland

What is the best way to travel through Scotland and see the bright lights of the big city within only one day? With autumn leaves falling, longer nights drawing in and colder weather fast approaching, there’s no better time than now to relish a cosy family break away.

The Caledonian Sleeper is bringing cosy comforts to families in Aberdeen. The sleeper train is inspiring Aberdonians to make the most of London’s autumnal attractions with the launch of a new campaign.

Offering more fares at lower prices as well as added onboard cosy comforts, the overnight service is encouraging families to travel from Aberdeen to London to enjoy some of the Big Smoke’s most exciting events, festivals and performances this month.

Avoiding the hassle of airport queues, families can board the Caledonian Sleeper at Aberdeen Railway Station before enjoying a hearty and freshly prepared Scottish meal in the comfort of the lounge car where kids under the age of 12 years eat free.

As an added extra bit of autumn indulgence, children can also snuggle up with a complementary hot chocolate and a piece of shortbread before settling down in an interconnecting room and waking up ready to start their London adventure the following morning.

Commenting on the campaign, Caledonian Sleeper guest experience director Ryan Flaherty said: “Autumn is a magical time in London and with a great range of exciting events coming up such as Chocolate Week, the opening of an ice rink at the Natural History Museum and the launch of an Aladdin musical, there’s no better time than now to make the most of what the city has offer.

“With a direct service into Euston Station, more fares at lower prices and complimentary cosy comforts on offer, this is the perfect opportunity for Aberdeen families to enjoy an autumnal adventure.”

Scotland’s Caledonian Sleeper service has been hailed as one of Lonely Planet travel guides’ best and the London to Fort William service also made the world’s best-selling travel guidebooks’ top 10. Every night, apart from Saturday, guests are transported both north and south between Inverness, Aberdeen, Fort William, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London Euston. Some brand new trains will be launched in 2018, which will offer innovative ways to travel in comfort on the Caledonian Sleeper service with double and en suite rooms as well as a redesigned lounge car for dining, serving the best of Scottish produce in the onboard menu.
