Creating works of art was child’s play for kids who were able to chalk to their hearts’ content on the pavement at Marischal Square as part of Nuart Aberdeen 2022.

From rainbows to outlines of themselves, the young artists were clearly having a ball during the Chalk Don’t Chalk event held on Sunday June 12.

The workshop was for kids aged three to 99 and sparked a frenzy of interest across the four hours of fun as they attempted to create Scotland’s largest temporary outdoor public gallery.

The aim was to let children take part in a public art project, inspired by the street art happening all around them as 11 artists created new works across the city centre for Nuart Aberdeen 2022.

Whole families took part – enjoying the warm sunshine that was occasionally interrupted by sharp showers – as young Picassos and Banksies worked their chalk magic.
