Cairngorms National Park Authority seeks public guidance to shape new development plan

Planning gurus at the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) are seeking public opinion on guidance to help shape future developments.

The 2020 plan will guide development in the national park over the next five years.

The blueprint will allow for land to be identified for developments designed to boost the economy of the range, as well as conserving and enhancing the park’s natural and cultural heritage.

The CNPA has said it has “ambitious targets for affordable housing in the communities that need it” and wants to create opportunities for businesses to grow and diversify.

Planning manager Dan Harris said: “We are seeking peoples’ views on the form and content of this non-statutory guidance, which covers natural heritage, landscape, cultural heritage and renewable energy.

“New requirements cannot be introduced at this stage.

“Instead, the non-statutory guidance aims to provide an explanation and supporting information to help implement the policies of the next local development plan.

“This consultation is, therefore, an important opportunity for anyone with an interest to influence its content.”

The consultation is open from Monday to Friday, August 7, via the CNPA website, after which all the responses will be reported to the planning committee who will determine the final content of the guidance.
