A Moray politician has urged a clean-up operation next to a busy cycle path in Moray.
The route between Elgin and Lhanbryde has become popular with walkers and cyclists since being created as part of the flood alleviation works.
However, concerns have now been raised about the amount of fast food rubbish, dog mess and waste being dumped next to the River Lossie.
Moray MSP Richard Lochhead has written to the council to ask it to examine the possibility of extra bins in the area to reduce the amount of litter blighting the path.
He said: “The cycle path is popular and well used by commuters and local families and no doubt the vast majority of users will take their litter and dog mess home with them.
“However, there is clearly a problem that needs to be addressed and I have asked the council to look at what action they can take to help keep the area clean and tidy.
“Hopefully, they’ll consider this as it’s clearly a problem and, of course, I would encourage folk who use the path to take their rubbish home with them.”
