A new three-part exhibition which celebrates the best of Aberdeenshire has opened to the public.
Triptych features a range of artwork from a wide variety of local talents including globally renowned photographer Colin Prior.
The touring exhibition, which has launched at Mintlaw’s new MACBI leisure complex, is the result of more than a year of collaborations led by Aberdeenshire Council. It will go on display at venues across the region from now until October.
The three projects being showcased include photography under the banner “Belonging to Aberdeenshire”; a collaboration with fledgling local artists and a display of iconic images by Mr Prior, who has been dubbed one of Scotland’s best landscape photographers.
After its launch in Mintlaw, the exhibition will be brought to six other venues including Portlethen Academy, Banff Castle, Deans of Huntly, Inverurie Library, Aboyne Community Centre and Ellon Library.
Aberdeenshire provost Jill Webster said: “The exhibition showcases the unique character of Aberdeenshire’s people and places and tells a strong story told by professional artists and the area’s residents.
“We have a lot to be proud of in Aberdeenshire but, living here, it’s sometimes easy for us to take the stunning landscapes and natural beauty we see every day for granted. These projects capture that distinctiveness and character of our area exceptionally well.”
Depute provost and central Buchan councillor Norman Smith added: “Showcasing these three quite different but interconnected projects really pulls together visual aspects of Aberdeenshire’s cultural heritage.
“This exhibition promises to be a fascinating and informative tour of the region and it truly will be an event not to be missed.”
