Tammy Wilson hopes to maintain her fine record in the RunGarioch races on Sunday when she competes in the Eblast 5km at Inverurie.

The Kintore runner, who competes for Garioch Road Runners, won the half marathon in 2013 and was runner-up in the 10km last year. She has also twice finished third in the 10km, in 2010 and 2012.

Fraser Cruickshank is among the favourites to win the men’s race. The Aberdeen AAC runner was second behind his clubmate Callum Symmons last year but the holder isn’t taking part on this occasion.

Marie Baxter will be among the favourites to win the women’s title in the RIM half marathon at Inverurie. The veteran Garioch Road Runners club member has a fine record in the competition over the past three years, having won in 2014 and 2015 before finishing runner-up behind Jennifer Elvin last year.

Her opponents include former Nairn and Skye half marathon champion Anne Hartmann (PH Racing) who has a best time of 1:25:46 set when finishing fourth in last year’s Scottish East District championships at Carnoustie.

Metro Aberdeen’s Hazel Wyness, who set a personal best time of 1:29:15 at Inverness, should also be in the frame.

David Barclay (Garioch Road Runners) should be among the leading contenders for the men’s title in the absence of two-time previous winner Kyle Greig (Metro Aberdeen).

In addition to the 5km, 10km and half marathon races there is also a series of runs for youngsters.

The meeting has attracted an entry of more than 3,000 competitors, including 1,000 schoolchildren.
