A duo of hotels are among those given top marks in a new initiative designed to keep customers safe during Covid-19.

The Drumossie Hotel in Inverness and the Pittodrie House Hotel in Aberdeenshire, both part of the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts group, have been marked as “Safe to Trade”.

The “Safe to Trade” (STTS) scheme was launched in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to help businesses instil customer and employee confidence that they can reopen and trade safely.

It operates to a carefully defined safety charter with venues listed on a publicly searchable website once their status is approved.

Drumossie General Manager Kenny McMillan said: “The inclusion of Macdonald Drumossie Hotel on the hospitality industry’s recently-published list of Safe to Trade venues is testament to the strenuous efforts of our team who have worked so hard to ensure that all measures have been correctly implemented.”

His counterpart at Pittodrie House, General Manager Andrew Tighe, said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff are always of paramount importance, particularly in current circumstances.

“We are very grateful to everyone, local and from further afield, who has supported us since we reopened in July.”

The scheme has been designed to create worry-free business environments for customers and staff, to ensure that venues are as Covid-secure as possible and also to provide help and advice to businesses where needed and as restrictions change – although the scheme goes above the minimum requirements set out by the government.

Fellow hotels Norwood Hall, Macdonald Aviemore Resort, Macdonald Spey Valley and Macdonald Lochanhully have also made the list.

Pittodrie House Hotel lies within easy reach of Aberdeen and Inverurie.  It is an acclaimed four-star venue set within a 2,000+ acre estate which benefits from the beautiful backdrop of Aberdeenshire landmark, Bennachie.

The venue is a popular choice for everything from family holidays and romantic breaks to corporate events and weddings thanks to its excellent facilities, which include a range of beautifully appointed rooms, excellent event facilities and the highly recommended two AA Rosette Mither Tap restaurant.

The Macdonald Drumossie Hotel is one of the leading conference and function venues in the Highlands and combines heritage, luxury and convenience all in one outstanding venue.

It is situated in nine acres of stunning parkland, only ten minutes from the city centre and a few minutes from the A9, and lies within easy close reach of several of the finest links golf courses in the world.

In addition, the hotel is perfectly positioned for the rich, local heritage of Culloden, Loch Ness and the Cairngorms, making it perfect for a relaxing break or a romantic getaway.
