The north-east is in line for a tourism boost with the return of the Energetica summer festival.
The project, which kicks off next month, will include dolphin spotting, archaeology and beach walks, red squirrel tours and even a bat watch event at Haddo House near Ellon.
The majority of the events are free and aimed at families and outdoor enthusiasts.
The initiative includes 40 organised activities which the Energetica team believe showcase the very best of the coastal corridor between Aberdeen and Peterhead, which will take place right through the summer until August.
Energetica’s development manager James Welsh said: “Last year’s festival was the first time that the programme of events spanned across the summer months rather than over a single weekend.
“The Energetica Summer Festival is a unique opportunity to showcase the diversity of the corridor and the abundance of activities, wildlife and scenery that is right on our doorstep here in the north-east.
“Under the guidance of experts and volunteers, visitors can discover how much there is to see, do and learn about the stunning environment that we have here.”
The Energetica corridor was launched nearly 10 years ago with the aim of promoting the 30-mile stretch of Aberdeenshire as a location of choice for renewable energy projects.
Jointly backed by Scottish Enterprise and Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils, the team work to promote quality of life and sustainable economic growth in communities including Ellon, Cruden Bay, Collieston and Peterhead.
Successful sustainable schemes in the area highlighted by Energetica include the approved Statoil offshore wind farm – the largest of its kind in the world – and Europe’s largest hydrogen bus fleet.
The team is also involved in the development of the new multimillion-pound Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
