A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after being involved in an accident on a Highland road.

The incident happened on the A831 between Drumnadrochit and Cannich shortly before 4pm .

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service confirmed that the man had been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after the incident.

No update on his condition was available..

It is understood that the car involved was able to be driven away after police checked it over at the scene.

The occupants are not believed to be seriously injured.

The road has since reopened.

The road is a busy link through Glen Urquhart and the road closure caused delays while emergency services worked at the scene.

Highland Council confirmed that that a school bus attempting to go between Glenurquhart High School towards Tomich had been delayed as a result.

The bus itself was not involved in the incident itself.

During the incident, a spokeswoman for the council said: “The A831 road is closed near Balnain due to a road traffic accident.

“The Glenurquhart High School school – Tomich bus is not involved in the accident but is seriously delayed as it is unable to continue until the road is clear, and is also unable to turn and take a diversion.”
