The fifth Skye Live festival is to be headlined by The Waterboys who will return to the Misty Isle for the first time in nearly 30 years.
The festival, which runs from September 5-7, is to take place at the picturesque amphitheatre known as The Lump, in the heart of the island’s largest settlement Portree.

Skye Live has grown immensely since its humble beginnings in 2014 with the new addition of an opening concert on a Thursday, when The Waterboys quartet will kick off proceedings.
The legendary rockers are set to be joined at the island festival by an array of vibrant traditional music talents, as well as some top DJ performers from across the nation.
Fresh off the back of conquering a 1,900 capacity sell-out show at Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom, Skye band Niteworks will grace the stage on Friday, September 6, alongside the Elephant Sessions, winners of the Scottish Traditional Music Awards Album of the Year.
Trad trio Hecla are to make the short trip from Uist to Skye to wow revellers, with the sounds of Sian, three of Scotland’s finest young Gaelic singers, including Portree’s own Eilidh Cormack, performing their own set, as well as collaborating with the electronic Celtic fusion band Niteworks.
Niall Munro, one of the organisers of the Skye Live Festival, said: “We’re thrilled with the lineup we’ve managed to pull together for the fifth year of the festival.
“It’s packed full of award-winning and game-changing traditional music talent, with so much of it originating right here on Skye.
“There’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
The festival’s DJ-only Tower Stage is to welcome an array of talent, with Erol Alkan and Auntie Flo heading over the sea to Skye.
Local DJs Non-Stop and Kontrast are to be given the opportunity to strut their stuff at the festival on their native isle on the final day, before the famed artist, the Peatbog Faeries, perform a rare homecoming gig on Skye in the evening.
West Coast folk-pop musicians Tide Lines and former Trad Music Awards live act of the year Rura are also to perform on the Saturday of the festival.
