Engineers who constructed the Cromarty Bridge in the Highlands have gathered together to mark its 40th anniversary.
The A9 crossing, which crosses the Cromarty Firth, first opened to the public in 1979, working in tandem with the reconstructed A9 and the Kessock Bridge in helping to shave 15 miles off the journey north from Inverness.
A group of civil engineers and staff from the 1976 to 1979 construction team came together at Kincraig Castle Hotel for a celebratory lunch to mark the milestone occasion.
Memories of the build were revived during the event through the sharing of pictures and various pieces of memorabilia as well as an archive film of the construction which highlighted the benefits of the design to preserve the mud flats feeding ground for numerous species of birds.
