REVEALED: The north-east services Stagecoach propose to scrap or change

A bus firm is proposing significant timetable changes for the new year, blaming online shopping, the economic downturn and cheaper car finance for a series of cuts.

Stagecoach intends to scrap the 35A service between Aberdeen and Oldmeldrum “due to low passenger use”.

Under the proposals, the number of evening journeys between Portlethen and Stonehaven will be halved – with a bus only every two hours rather than hourly.

Some evening journeys in Deesside are also being axed.

The peak-time 62 service between Aberdeen and Ellon will in future terminate at the Park and Ride while the 75 between Fraserburgh and St Combs is to be scrapped – with the 69 route serving the latter instead.

More buses between Inverurie and Aberdeen will become express X37 services.

A number of planned improvements include additional stops for the 78 and 79 services in Fingask Road to serve a new housing estate in Fraserburgh.

There is also a revised route proposed in Westhill for service X17 to incorporate Broadshade which the firm said would improve reliability and connections to the Prime Four development and Aberdeen City Centre.

The revised timetables will be on display at a series of public events over the following days as Stagecoach gauges passenger opinion:

Today: Inverurie Morrisons (3pm – 8pm)

Wednesday: Kingswells Park and Ride / Portlethen Asda (3pm-8pm)

Thursday: Westhill Interchange (6am – 8.30am) / Stonehaven Market Square (3pm – 8pm)

Friday: Banchory Bellfield (3pm – 8pm)

Monday, November 13: Ellon Park and Ride (7am – 11.30am)
