For many, this time of year is one where we reminisce and share the same stories of the good times with our family.

We reflect and chatter about our favourite memories from throughout the years so we thought it was a good time to dig through our archives for images of some notable moments for families in the north and north-east throughout the decades.

Featuring below are some true rites of passage including the wave to your mum as you make your way to school for the first time.

There is also the excitement and anticipation of five generations of Aberdeen supporters in the golden era of the 1980s as they prepare to travel to Sweden to watch Alex Ferguson’s team defeat Real Madrid in the European Cup Winners Cup final.

Staying with the dons, we see the joy of a former captain and his wife off the pitch as they brought their twin sons home for the first time.

We also a sweet moment of a family supporting their father in graduating from college at the age of 52. It’s never too late to get a degree.

The love of a mother and daughter towards two wonderful new cats should also resonate with anyone who has brought a pet home for the first time.
