National firm boosts employment by taking up High Street lease

A national recruitment firm is to open in Elgin following its recent success inhiring staff for Highland distilleries.

Brightwork, which is currently based in Glasgow and Edinburgh, will take up the lease on the new office premises at Caledonian House on Elgin High Street from February 1.

The firm said the new premises will initially allow two people to be employed there but it is expected more jobs will be created as the business becomes established in the area.

Shan Saba, business development director, said: “Brightwork is the first nationwide recruitment company to open in Elgin and we hope to provide our services to the widest possible range of businesses throughout the region.

“We have acted for some years as recruitment partners to a number of leading drinks businesses located in the Highlands, supplying staff both to their distilleries and their warehouses. Increasingly, too, we have been helping them find suitable staff for their visitors’ centres.

“Servicing their staffing requirements from Glasgow or Edinburgh was becoming increasingly challenging and, as a result, we decided to invest in a Highlands office base, all the better to service our clients’ requirements while bringing an additional direct route into employment opportunities for the local population.” Georgia Dunk, of Moray Chamber of Commerce, said: “We welcome Brightwork to Elgin as our only locally-based recruitment business and look forward to it helping local businesses to hire skilled and talented local people.”

Brightwork was acquired earlier this year by AIM-listed business Staffline but says it continues to run its business in Scotland with a “significant degree of autonomy” with an annual turnover of £40million.

The firm handles temporary, contract and permanent vacancies across a wide range of sectors. It has a policy of meeting all candidates in person as part of the registration process.

The firm also offers long-term career advice as well as one-to-one support.
