The cHeRries Awards 2016
The cHeRries Awards 2016

Finalists in the ninth annual cHeRies Awards last night celebrated their success at a special cocktail party ahead of the main event in June.

The awards, which celebrate specialists in the field of human resources, training and recruitment in the north-east of Scotland, hosted the nominees who have been selected to go forward in the scheme’s nine categories.

The drinks reception, which was attended by 75 people at Aberdeen cocktail bar, Orchid, was sponsored by Aberdeen-based recruitment firm, Coutts Mennie Consultancy.

Managing director Stuart McWilliam, said: “This is the third year Coutts Mennie Consultancy has sponsored the cocktail party. We are delighted to be part of the cHerRies Awards 2016.

“The market right now is a bit challenging so it is great to see people here that are performing and achieving.

“It is a very strong finalists group. Given what has happened to Aberdeen in the last 18 months to see the strength and breadth of the region’s HR and personnel development professionals is really exciting.

“The awards evening itself on 2 June will be really good.

“Coutts Mennie are delighted as always to be working with great HR people.

“Not only that but everybody likes a cocktail.”

Stuart MacBride, the founder and chairman of Trinity International Services was also in attendance. The HR director at his firm, Rachel O’Donnell, is one of the shortlisted finalists in the Excellent HR Manager category.

He said: “For a member of staff it is the most wonderful thing. In some ways it is a reward for the time you spend encouraging them – reflected glory.”

This year’s cHeRries Awards 2016 ceremony will be held on June 2 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and will provide a platform for showcasing the best HR professionals and practices across the region.

Highlights of the evening will include a performance from Banff-born singer-songwriter Sandi Thom, while the emcee for the event will be comedian Fred MacAulay.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online or by phoning 01382 426212.
