A Highland primary school closed since Friday after a burst pipe caused flooding damage will re-open later this week.
Cromarty Primary was closed to pupils on Friday after the leak was discovered and heating engineers were brought in to investigate the problem.
A statement issued by Highland Council today reads: “Following the leak, which was discovered when the school was opened early on Friday morning, an assessment of the damage and interim remedial repairs have been carried out and work to get the building ready is near completion.
“Following a meeting held earlier today to review progress, it is intended that the school reopens to pupils on Thursday.”
On Friday the Director of Care and Learning Bill Alexander thanked staff and parents for their quick response and huge effort in helping to keep damages caused by the flood water to a minimum. Today he added his thanks to council staff, teachers and contractors who were working at the school over the weekend and the last two days.
He said: “We apologise for the disruption caused but thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, we will be able to re-open the school on Thursday.”
